Privacy policy
Last updated 13 October 2026
This policy covers the Pillion app and bepillion.com. It explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and how to delete it. We collect as little as we can, and we never sell your data or show you ads.
Who we are
Pillion is an early-stage project run by a small team in Bengaluru. It isn’t a registered company yet; when it becomes one, we’ll name it here. We help riders find a garage and book a slot. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”) we are the “data fiduciary”: we decide why and how your personal data is used. For anything about your data, email admin@bepillion.com.
What we collect
In the app
- your phone number, name and bike details;
- which garages you tap Book on, with a booking reference code;
- messages you send us on WhatsApp;
- your location, only if you allow it. Say no and the app still works. You can turn it off at any time in your phone’s settings;
- how you use the app (such as screens you open and buttons you tap), your device type and operating system version, and crash reports that show what went wrong when the app stops working.
On this website
- if you join the waitlist: your name, mobile number and, if you tell us, the bike you ride;
- if you recommend a garage: its name, its area and anything you tell us about it.
Like most websites, our hosting provider briefly records technical details of each request, such as your IP address and browser type, to keep the site secure and stop spam. The website uses no advertising or tracking cookies and no analytics.
We don’t handle payments. You pay the garage directly, so we never see your card or bank details.
Why we use it
- to arrange your booking with the garage;
- to show garages near you;
- to understand, in aggregate, which parts of Bengaluru riders use the app from and how they use it, so we know where to list garages and what to improve;
- to find and fix crashes;
- to reply to you and help if something goes wrong;
- to tell waitlist riders when Pillion opens, and follow up on garages they recommend;
- to get better at choosing which garages we list.
We use your data only with your consent, which you give when you sign up or submit a form. You can withdraw it at any time (see “Your rights”).
Who sees it
- The garage you book with gets your name, number and bike, for that booking only.
- WhatsApp (Meta) carries our messages with you.
- Service providers store and process data for us under contract: Supabase (the app’s database and sign-in), Google (where the website waitlist is kept, and our website hosting), and an analytics and crash-reporting provider. We’ll name that provider here before we start using it.
- Authorities, when the law requires us to.
We don’t sell or rent your data, and we don’t share it with advertisers. We use analytics only to improve Pillion, never for advertising or to track you across other apps and websites.
Where it’s kept and how we protect it
Data travels over encrypted connections, and only the people on the Pillion team who need it can see it. Our service providers may store data on servers outside India. Where they do, we rely on their contractual safeguards and follow any limits the Government of India sets on such transfers. If a breach of your personal data happens, we’ll tell you and the Data Protection Board of India, as the DPDP Act requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your app account and bookings until you delete your account. Website waitlist details are kept until six months after the app opens in Bengaluru, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first. A garage you booked with may keep its own record of that booking.
Delete your account
In the app
Open Profile and tap Delete account.
Without the app
Message us on WhatsApp, or email admin@bepillion.com from the number or address on your account. We delete everything within 7 days and confirm when it’s done.
Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- correct, complete or update it;
- erase it;
- stop using it. You can withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it;
- let someone you nominate use these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
Email admin@bepillion.com. We’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
Pillion is for riders aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has signed up, email admin@bepillion.com and we’ll delete their details.
What Pillion does and doesn’t do
We help you find a garage and book the slot. The work on your bike, the price, payment, parts and any warranty are between you and the garage. We aren’t responsible for the work itself. If something goes wrong, tell us and we’ll help you raise it with the garage.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app or on your number before it takes effect.
